Job Summary
We are seeking a Business Analyst to help shape the future of Caterpillar's state-of-the-art digital applications, including the Service Information System (SIS), which enables the dealer service business and supports enterprise goals for parts sales. This role will gather and document user and client requirements, support the development and testing of new products and services, collect feedback from business partners, and align with development teams and product owners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the solutions. The successful candidate will have a passion for understanding business needs and translating them into technical solutions that support world-class digital experiences. What You Will Do:
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to understand business needs, clarify priorities, and translate requirements into actionable solution direction.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, user, functional, and non-functional requirements for SIS and related digital products and services.
- Create clear documentation, features, acceptance criteria, data needs, and supporting analysis to guide delivery teams through design, development, testing, and implementation.
- Support solution validation, user acceptance testing, issue resolution, and feedback collection to ensure delivered capabilities meet business objectives and improve customer, dealer, and employee experiences.
What you will have:
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Business Data Analysis: Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements.
- Business Assessment: Knowledge of the activities, tasks, practices and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities; ability to assess the benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications.
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.
- Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
- Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.
Consideration for top candidates:
- Knowledge of Agile practices and approaches, preferably SAFe
- Proven ability to build strong business partner relationships
- Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements and user stories
- Understanding technical designs and solution tradeoff
- Demonstrated success communicating technical designs with global team members

- This position requires the candidate to be in Chicago, IL, Peoria, IL, Denver, CO or Dallas, TX

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
