Company History
Founded in 2006, Somos is a global provider of telephone number and identity information services based in East Brunswick, New Jersey. The company oversees all telephone numbers used in North America — more than 7 billion numbers in total — in its administration roles appointed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Somos also has a commercial arm of its business dedicated to safeguarding trust between enterprises and consumers when they communicate via Toll-Free, local, and wireless numbers.
Somos manages national and international registries including the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), Toll-Free Numbers (TFNA), and the Reassigned Numbers Database (RND). The company also offers fraud mitigation and data integrity solutions. Its mission is to protect consumer trust in telecom by enabling authentic and seamless communication between people, businesses, and organizations.
In 2021, Somos acquired XConnect, expanding its global footprint and capabilities in number portability, routing, and interconnection data. XConnect helps service providers address routing, validation, and fraud challenges in real-time across more than 100 countries.
